This was one of my favorite threads from the old board.

I'll submit Deer Tick - War Elephant

A solid record from some folks who live in my state.

I have to restate this album for those who haven't heard it here although I know a few of us have. Adrian Orange and Her Band - Self Titled? I can understand why Phil Elverum said some of the greatest music being written right now is being written by Thanksgiving. The guy is seriously a genius, and even to be pretty early on in his career he has evolved so much. This album is so full, everything involved is great. I actually now believe out of all the guys in this little group Phil Elverum, Kyle Field, and Adrian Orange he is by far my favorite and I think now most important.

Anything and everything Elephant Micah.  I know that I'm extremely late on this one, but if there were any others like me who didn't own some/all of this guy, change your ways.  Now.

My only beef with the DPs is that you never know what you're going to get from Longreth. Sometimes it's nice, out there folk music and sometimes it's unlistenable noise collage. But so far the new one's tickling the ear drums.

haha yea i agree.  i could never really get that much into his older ones for that exactly.  but this new one i think is really strong and solid.

also, im not sure if i mentioned this in the old forum and i forgot to mention it above.  i heard it a few months ago and loved it, but then forgot about it.  ive been listening to it quite a bit lately.

When I was out in Colorado last week, me and a certain bearded somebody  Wink checked out this guy called "The Wheel"

  http://www.myspace.com/thewheel

The guys name is Nathaniel Rateliff.  The Wheel is a side project, his band is Born In the Flood

Incredible voice - good recordings on myspace, even better live.  Has an album coming out in October.

Battles

Just heard the track titled "Atlas" on KCRW's Metropolis and can't get enough.  It's weird but so good.

That Deer Tick record is nice. I like their singer's voice and the instumentation's awful purdy.

I've heard a few songs by Xavier Rudd from his Food in the Belly album and I really like it. Very pretty stuff.
